My favourites are the two classics that everyone has heard of due to numerous television adaptations - The Secret Garden & Little Lord Fauntleroy - both books are a joy to read and take the reader back to childhood to feel all of childhood's fears & happiness.
I love a happy ending & both books are finished beautifully in this way.
