| I have been terrified of the wind since we had the aftermath of a hurricane in the UK in
1987. I wasn't very old at the time but what really scared me was the destructive force of the wind. If you
bear in mind that we don't get serious earthquakes, very strong winds or other natural disasters very often in
this country it is not really a surprise that I was scared. |
| Ever since the wind has given me a terrible sense of foreboding as it can never be
escaped. I tend to turn my music up loud or simply stay outside when the wind is strong as it makes me feel
insignificant and expendable so I fight it instead! Tornadoes, Hurricanes and Cyclones have always fascinated
me because they are so beautiful and yet so destructive - I could never be a storm chaser though as my
fear threshold is very low (I get scared standing on a table!). |
| Thunder is also an attraction. We don't get many big storms (except lately) and I
like to stand at the window and watch the lightning when I can. Sometimes it is just so I know where it is -
like watching a creepy crawly you don't like so it can't creep up on you. Often scares me when I am caught
unawares as lightning is a killer no matter how beautiful it is. |
